About This Spot

Blue Agave in Hernando feels like a familiar neighborhood spot where the rhythm of everyday life slows just enough to savor the simple pleasures of good food and company. Tucked along Commerce Street, the restaurant welcomes you with a quiet, unpretentious charm—there’s no rush, just the steady hum of casual conversation and the inviting warmth of well-worn booths and friendly faces.

Here, the atmosphere is approachable and easygoing, the kind of place where locals drop in for a no-fuss meal and an honest pour of margarita that’s consistently refreshed and never overthought. The mood tends to be relaxed—a blend of diner comfort and the bright spirit of Mexican flavors entwined in familiar, comforting ways.

The kitchen serves up crowd-pleasing interpretations of Mexican staples, where dishes are unpretentious yet satisfying. From hearty breakfasts that feel like a gentle morning hug, complete with homemade biscuits and grits alongside classic favorites, to richly layered enchiladas and quesadillas that carry the kind of warmth that fills more than just your stomach. Rice, beans, and the occasional pineapple-touched quesadilla add a touch of surprise to the usual fare, while margaritas—neon green or traditionally lime-spiked—strike just the right note of refreshment after a long day.

It’s not the setting that dazzles, but the sincerity of the experience. The building wears its age with a quiet dignity, and while parking can be a bit of a puzzle, the hospitality always smooths over these small inconveniences. Behind the counter, there’s a team that moves with the ease of rhythm earned through familiarity, making even first-timers feel like part of the rhythm of this modest but steady place.

Blue Agave offers not just a meal but a moment—a relaxed pause in Hernando where the food is comforting, the drinks are reliable, and the atmosphere invites you to keep things simple and genuine. It’s a spot to return to, whether for the dependable classics or for a slow afternoon spent savoring the neighborhood’s quieter, sweeter sides.

This mexican restaurant serves a reasonably priced american diner style breakfast that's hard to beat.

Stopped in to try the house margarita. Neon green with no real lime in sight. The question to ask....what were you expecting? A cheap sweet and sour margarita or fresh lime and agave? If neon green was your expectation, this pace is a great choice. This is the best margarita I've had all week. (It was $8)

Pretty standard mexican fare. I had chicken enchiladas topped with cheese sauce and salsa verde and I really enjoyed it. However, the bacon on my mom's baked potato was done to the point of being burnt. The sweet tea was good. I would go back.

This is my go to restaurant in Hernando. Fast service, good food and priced right. Maybe not the best “Mexican” atmosphere, but worth the trip. Consistent Margaritas! Recommend.

The building is a bit run down, and the parking lot is a joke, but it's a nice experience. The staff is pleasant and the food is consistently good. Would absolutely recommend going at least once to try the place for yourself.

Service was good. Food was excellent! We have already made several trips back. Most places can't get grilled chicken right. It's either too stringy, dry or a combination of both. This place gets it. Well seasoned food and yummy queso put a smile on my face.

Awesome food, service and staff! Give then a try! La Parrilla, Carnitas platter, with salsa verde, and Yolandas enchiladas. White Queso, fresh chips and salsa. Good covered patio. Nice and open interior. Cold draft beer, and good margaritas.
